The Self-Love Revolution - Fall in Love with Yourself Again

February 28, 20254 min read

February has been a month filled with love, connection and relationships. But before we say goodbye to the heart-shaped chocolates and grand romantic gestures, let’s shift the focus inward—to you.

For the past few weeks, we’ve talked about navigating relationships, expressing emotions and embracing heart health during menopause. But there’s one love story we haven’t fully explored yet—the one between you and yourself.

Because here’s the truth: Your relationship with yourself shapes everything—how you experience menopause, how you show up in relationships and how you reclaim your vitality.

As we close out the month, let’s talk about self-love in menopause—what it really looks like, why it matters and how you can start embracing it today.

Self-love isn’t just about bubble baths and spa days (though those are great, too). It’s about:

✅Listening to your body instead of fighting it.

✅Letting go of unrealistic expectations.

✅Speaking to yourself with kindness, especially on tough days.

✅Prioritizing your well-being without guilt.

✅Saying NO when something doesn’t serve you.

✅It’s about honouring who you are right now, even as your body and emotions change.

Menopause can make you feel like you’re losing parts of yourself—your energy, patience, confidence—but what if, instead of resisting it, you leaned into rediscovering yourself?

One of the hardest parts of menopause is feeling like you’ve lost control.

The hot flashes that come out of nowhere.

The brain fog that makes you forget why you walked into a room.

The mood swings that make you feel like a stranger to yourself.

And while you can’t always stop these things from happening, you can change the way you respond to them.

Next time you feel frustrated, try this: Instead of thinking:

“I hate that my body is changing.”

Try thinking:

“My body is adjusting, and I can give it what it needs.”

And instead of thinking: “I should be handling this better.”

Try thinking:

“I am handling this the best way I can and that’s enough.”

When you fell this, remember You are not broken... You are evolving!

And when you shift from fighting your body to working with it, you’ll get a new sense of freedom.

Make Self-Love a Daily Habit

Loving yourself in menopause isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily practice. Here are a few ways to start:

1. Talk to Yourself Like You Would a Friend

Would you ever tell your best friend, “You’re not good enough” or “You’re failing at this”? Of course not. But how often do you say those things to yourself?

The next time you feel frustrated, pause and ask: “If my best friend were going through this, what would I say to her?” Then say those words to yourself.

2. Give Yourself Permission to Rest

If your body is tired, let it rest. You don’t have to push through everything to prove your strength. Strength also looks like:

Going to bed early instead of forcing yourself to be productive. Taking a slow walk instead of an intense workout when your energy is low. Saying no to plans when you need time for yourself.

Your energy is precious—protect it.

3. Find Joy in Small Moments

Not every day will feel amazing, but there is always something good to notice.

That first sip of coffee in the morning. The warmth of the sun on your face. Laughing at something silly with a friend.

The more you look for these moments, the more you’ll realize they’ve been there all along.

4. Celebrate Yourself

For many, menopause can feel like a cruel joke—a sudden whirlwind of symptoms, emotions and changes. But you can take this opportunity to honour yourself. Why not:

Host a Girlfriend Gathering: Gather your closest friends for a night of laughter and solidarity. Share stories, swap remedies, or embark on a healthy cooking night together. Community brings comfort and strength.

Nourish Your Body: Play with food! Try a ‘menu makeover’ day with plant-based recipes rich in vitamins and minerals that support hormonal balance. Think vibrant dishes filled with kale, sweet potatoes, and berries. Bonus: cooking together fosters deeper connections!

Pamper Yourself: Sign up for a spa day or create mini spa sessions at home. Relax with aromatherapy, soothing baths, or restorative facials. This is your time to shine, and self-care rejuvenates your spirit!

Final Thoughts

As February takes us on a journey of love—love for ourselves and for each other—let’s celebrate this incredible phase of life. Seek joy, embrace your body, explore your passions and connect with those around you.

February may be coming to an end, but your journey is just beginning. Carry the love forward, every day, and embrace the woman you are and this incredible journey you’re on!
